J&J | August Wedding at The Admiral’s House | Seattle Wedding Planner

 Elegant (adj.) – pleasingly graceful and stylish in appearance or manner.

People often ask if I work with couples who are planning from out-of-state and this is a perfect example: when they booked me, Jane was in Chicago at Law School and Jonathan was in New York, so most of our work was done via phone conferences. However, J&J’s incredibly kind demeanors, attention to detail, and eagerness to host a perfectly executed event made working with them from afar an absolute dream. Together, we made sure that their top 3 wedding wishes – excellent food & drinks, impeccable photography, and a smooth, enjoyable experience from start to finish – became a reality.

Although it’s been well over a year since their wedding day, J&J’s wedding is one I’ll likely never forget. The stunning Admiral’s House backdrop + all-star vendor team (see below for list), the carefully chosen little details (think lavender soap from Woodinville Lavender and fresh truffles from Intrigue), and, most importantly, the bride and groom’s attention to their guests’ experience, made for one of the most beautifully joyful events I’ve ever coordinated.

Forever grateful to my dear friend, Kelly (floral designer extraordinaire), for connecting me with this amazing couple!

J&J || July 2015 || 415 Westlake || Seattle Wedding Planner

I’ve been so blessed to collaborate with countless incredible couples – it never ceases to make my stomach flutter when I get the email from a couple saying that they want to book me (ME!) as their wedding coordinator and/or planner. I mean, think about it… hiring a wedding coordinator is essentially asking a complete stranger to handle every single aspect, large or tiny, on one of the most important days of your life, based solely on connection + trust formed from ONE initial consultation. Crazy, right? So trust me when I say I feel pretty freaking lucky to have had so many couples put their faith in me for their celebrations.

All of that said, I knew from literally the INSTANT that Jackie introduced herself to me at our initial meeting that her and her then-fiance, Jacob, were going to be more than just clients. It was like getting together with an old friend – we talked for hours, laughed, and went through all of their proposal photos together (which, by the way, involved an entire medieval setup with costumes for most of those involved AND included Jacob battling a wizard, a knight, and Barney the dinosaur for Jackie’s heart). It never even felt like a “consultation”. It felt like “I need these people in my life”.

Luckily for me, J&J asked me to plan & coordinate their July wedding and it was an experience I’ll never forget. Our monthly meetings always got off track because of the insane number of inside jokes we had together (I would try to explain, but they’re all SO ridiculous… just think of those weird things you & your friends talk about that make you die of laughter every time) and ALWAYS ended with hugs. We worked through difficult logistical bumps and brainstormed DIY projects over and over until the perfect idea emerged. On the wedding day itself, I think I must’ve hugged Jackie at least 50 times and we were saying “love you!” back and forth.

Jackie & Jacob’s kindness, generosity, and huge hearts made a huge impact on my life and their genuine, raw, perfectly imperfect love for each other is something that every person wants to have with their significant other. I am so lucky that my job lead me to such an incredible duo. BUT, without further ado, I present to you: Mr. & Mrs. Chen!!

I mean, I’m just going to start this out by saying that you KNOW you’re collaborating with an awesome couple when they let you know that they’re ending their ceremony with 2 confetti cannons (see below). But even before they told me about that, I adored L&S for so many other reasons – they are both so down to earth, genuine, and gracious + it was apparent from the moment I met them that they had the utmost respect for each other and all of their loved ones. The cherry on top? Our mutual love for all things sassy & sarcastic.

Leslie & Steve’s romantic, cocktail party theme was enhanced by their snazzy black and white-clad wedding party, lots and lots of white & blush flowers, gold accents intermixed throughout, and of course, the strung cafe lights + hundreds of candles. And guess what? The majority of this beautiful celebration was DIY! That word has become somewhat cringe-worthy for me when it comes to weddings, but L blew me away with all of her DIY design work – the signage, menus, place cards, table numbers, and even the gorgeous bouquets were ALL her doing! Overall, the best kind of wedding – gorgeously simple, classy & cozy – with the best kind of couple.

A big thank you to this sweet couple for allowing me to be a part of such lovely day! Here’s to Mr. & Mrs. Minalia!!

S&C | November 2013 | Seattle Aquarium | Seattle Wedding Planner

Stephanie & Chad were one of my 2013 couples who found me very early on and decided to take a chance on me. Stephanie had emailed me, wanting to know if I was available for her November wedding (off-season is my favorite so heck yes!) and then she told me that their wedding venue was at the Seattle Aquarium and it was a done deal. I mean, how awesome would it be to coordinate a wedding at the place where so much of my childhood was spent!? (For those of you who don’t know, I am a MAJOR animal lover so the Aquarium = pure awesomeness). And so began my adventure with this lovely couple!

Stephanie is a highly intelligent and thoughtful woman who knew exactly what she wanted for her wedding day. Chad was so sweet and supportive throughout the whole process – one of the more involved grooms I’ve worked with! Together, they make a perfect team and I feel so honored that I was able to take part in the beginning of their forever.

I knew that their wedding would be spectacular but I was honestly not prepared for how out-of-this-world it turned out to be when it all came together. Every detail had so much thought put into it – from the hand-made escort cards that Stephanie crafted (color-coded to show what dinner choice each guest had chosen!), to the intimate candles that lined the front of the giant fish tank to the radiant orchid & turquoise uplighting. Not to mention the amazing set of vendors that Stephanie & Chad put together!!

Huge shout-out to the lovely Nicole of Nicole Goddard Photography for being so much fun and, of course, for allowing me to show off her fantastic photos of the day!

I couldn’t have asked for a better way to finish off the 2013 wedding season! Congratulations again to the wonderful Mr. & Mrs. Johnston!!
