M&M | Golden Gardens Wedding | July | Seattle Wedding Planner

AlexandraCeliaPhotography-MeganandMarshall-617

I’ve literally had this draft saved for weeks. Photos chosen and placed, vendors listed, the best memories relived. But this part? Sheesh, it is difficult to write a short blurb about two incredible people who I have so much love for.

Megan and I have known each other since high school — we were those best friends who had an enviable amount of inside jokes and spent the majority of our time writing notes to each other and laughing ’til we cried. Fast forward a few years, and I’m convincing M that she does, indeed, need a wedding planner and that I should somehow be lucky enough to have that honor. And what an absolute honor it was… M&M are intelligent beyond their years and consistently reminded me what a real relationship looks like. I got to watch them work as a team throughout our professional relationship as we planned their wedding together, and have gotten to see them work as a team through the most difficult of life’s realities as they perfect their marriage. It truly brings me so much joy knowing that one of my dearest friends found her match… I would go back and do their beach celebration 1,000 times if I could.

Color Scheme: ice blue, white, silver
Favorite Décor Elements: pops of vintage furniture/elements against the bathhouse brick walls, the 10-pane window seating chart, platters upon platters of cake pops.
Favorite Moments: the look on Megan’s face when she walked into the bathhouse for the reception reveal, the incorporation of live music via the ceremony violinist + the cocktail hour band, and the overall love + joy that emanated between M&M — whether they were in each other’s arms or all the way across the room. Oh and Tux. On a. Beach.

To one of the most #goals couples out there — I cannot wait to see everything you do together, M&M!

J&C | Guemes Island Resort Wedding | July | San Juans Wedding Planner

424_benblood_4250

Oh my goodness. This wedding. Well, more specifically, this couple. I just took a quick walk down memory lane as I went through all of the emails that J and I sent each other during our 5-month planning adventure and it’s making me feel all warm and fuzzy in my heart. J&C booked me from afar (California) and our very first phone call felt like catching up with an old friend. Shortly after we made our collab official, J started her emails to me with “hey, babe” and I would respond with “hi, love”. All of our interactions were so casual and split between talking about life outside of wedding planning + me being my Type A self while J calmly stayed true to her Type B counterpart. We balanced each other out well and planned one heck of a beautiful, logistics-heavy, lowkey wedding.

Color Scheme: navy blue, neutrals, pops of orange
Favorite Décor Elements: driftwood ceremony arch with gorgeous blooms, neutral-colored glassybabys on the guest tables (that doubled as guest favors), pebbles + shells hand-gathered from the Guemes Island beach.
Favorite Moment: J’s spontaneous decision to jump in as the official cake cutter. Guests lined up and got to spend a few minutes talking to her while she cut them their choice of Deru cake. It was perfect.

PS, do not think I’ve forgotten about C! I didn’t get to meet him until they were finally in Washington for their wedding weekend, but he greeted me for the first time with the warmest smile + hug and I remember immediately thinking “Yep. These two were made for each other.”

Cheers, J&C. I wish we could go back and do it all over again.

W&K | Maplehurst Farm Wedding | June | Bellingham Wedding Planner

05_TheCouple_044

W&K are the kind of couple you just really want to be best friends with. They’re the most delightful mixture of kind, sassy, beautiful, and rad, which made our meetings feel more like wedding planning-themed hangouts. On top of that, every single element of their wedding day was so thoughtfully curated and true to what makes them unique together, including: multiple personalized signs, 100+ hand-folded paper cranes, mementos from their incredible trip to Japan, and a ceremony procedure I’d never seen before that consisted of them tasting 5 different elements together (traditionally 4 – sour, bitter, hot, sweet – but W&K added their own element of umami, mostly because they freaking love oysters).

Color Scheme: navy blue, orange, sage green, gold accent
Favorite Décor Elements: the zany tea party theme, custom signage, and GOLD GLITTER EVERYWHERE.
Favorite Moment: at the end of their wedding day, when W grabbed both of my arms, looked me in the eyes, and said “You. Are. The. Shit.” Still recovering from my heart bursting with happiness.

Here’s to so many years of adventures + happiness, W&K!! Can’t wait to see where life takes you next.

E&B | Maplehurst Farm Wedding | September | Bellingham Wedding Planner

emilybrian00210

It is rare (read: basically impossible) for me to find people who rival my love for dessert. That was the first sign that my wedding planning adventures with Emily & Brian were going to be something else entirely. Then there was the laughter. And the level of real that E&B bring to the table – real love, real intentions, real grace, real fun. And, of course, the way that B looks at E. Got me every time.

E&B’s Maplehurst Farm wedding was classy and full of the industry’s best, but also so low-key and fun. The only hitch? The absolutely insane wind. This was not your every day “oh hey, its kinda windy” occasion… this was a “oh hey, there goes a water goblet” kinda deal. It may look nice and calm in those tablescape images (so perfectly captured by Michèle Waite), but let me tell ya: it came down to me having to make the call at the very last second to keep those dinner tables under that beautiful tree-lined lane because I knew that E had been dreaming of that setup for months and months. And yes, every single person on E&B’s vendor team thought I was insane (direct quote from Jessica, owner of Ciao Thyme: “you’re crazy”). But, in a crazy turn of events, the dark skies held the rain and wind for the entirety of the ceremony and the wind completely died down during dinner. #blessed

One of the best things about working with E&B was their undying trust in me and their team. In addition to trusting me with the coordination of their wedding day, they also trusted me to do their place cards + dessert labels when I was just getting started in the calligraphy field. These little details ended up being one of my favorite projects ever – specifically the hand-painted moutains that mimic the ones on their guestbook. Speaking of details: the amount of culinary detail that Ciao Thyme brought to the table (literally) was unreal (see below), Kelly of Country Bouquets Floral added the perfect floral details to every inch of the day, and can we just take a moment to appreciate the magic that is Michèle’s ability to capture all of the most important moments?

K, I’m ready – let’s do it again. Wind and all.
So much love to E&B and to a vendor team that trusted my crazy weather decisions!

J&J | August Wedding at The Admiral’s House | Seattle Wedding Planner

jj072

Elegant (adj.) – pleasingly graceful and stylish in appearance or manner.

People often ask if I work with couples who are planning from out-of-state and this is a perfect example: when they booked me, Jane was in Chicago at Law School and Jonathan was in New York, so most of our work was done via phone conferences. However, J&J’s incredibly kind demeanors, attention to detail, and eagerness to host a perfectly executed event made working with them from afar an absolute dream. Together, we made sure that their top 3 wedding wishes – excellent food & drinks, impeccable photography, and a smooth, enjoyable experience from start to finish – became a reality.

Although it’s been well over a year since their wedding day, J&J’s wedding is one I’ll likely never forget. The stunning Admiral’s House backdrop + all-star vendor team (see below for list), the carefully chosen little details (think lavender soap from Woodinville Lavender and fresh truffles from Intrigue), and, most importantly, the bride and groom’s attention to their guests’ experience, made for one of the most beautifully joyful events I’ve ever coordinated.

Forever grateful to my dear friend, Kelly (floral designer extraordinaire), for connecting me with this amazing couple!

J&J || July 2015 || 415 Westlake || Seattle Wedding Planner

*kellylemonphotography_J+Jwedding2015-708

I’ve been so blessed to collaborate with countless incredible couples – it never ceases to make my stomach flutter when I get the email from a couple saying that they want to book me (ME!) as their wedding coordinator and/or planner. I mean, think about it… hiring a wedding coordinator is essentially asking a complete stranger to handle every single aspect, large or tiny, on one of the most important days of your life, based solely on connection + trust formed from ONE initial consultation. Crazy, right? So trust me when I say I feel pretty freaking lucky to have had so many couples put their faith in me for their celebrations.

All of that said, I knew from literally the INSTANT that Jackie introduced herself to me at our initial meeting that her and her then-fiance, Jacob, were going to be more than just clients. It was like getting together with an old friend – we talked for hours, laughed, and went through all of their proposal photos together (which, by the way, involved an entire medieval setup with costumes for most of those involved AND included Jacob battling a wizard, a knight, and Barney the dinosaur for Jackie’s heart). It never even felt like a “consultation”. It felt like “I need these people in my life”.

Luckily for me, J&J asked me to plan & coordinate their July wedding and it was an experience I’ll never forget. Our monthly meetings always got off track because of the insane number of inside jokes we had together (I would try to explain, but they’re all SO ridiculous… just think of those weird things you & your friends talk about that make you die of laughter every time) and ALWAYS ended with hugs. We worked through difficult logistical bumps and brainstormed DIY projects over and over until the perfect idea emerged. On the wedding day itself, I think I must’ve hugged Jackie at least 50 times and we were saying “love you!” back and forth.

Jackie & Jacob’s kindness, generosity, and huge hearts made a huge impact on my life and their genuine, raw, perfectly imperfect love for each other is something that every person wants to have with their significant other. I am so lucky that my job lead me to such an incredible duo. BUT, without further ado, I present to you: Mr. & Mrs. Chen!!
